During the crucial World Cup Group E match that took place on Thursday evening, Germany defeated Costa Rica with a score of 4:2.

The Germans started the match positively and already in the 10th minute, Serge Gnabry scored with a header after a high pass from David Raum.

Costa Rica had a golden opportunity to equalize the score at the end of the first half when Keysher Fuller Spence went one-on-one with the goalkeeper. However, Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper of the German national team, played excellently and saved his team, keeping the score 1-0.

In the second half, Costa Rica shocked their opponents and scored two goals to take the lead. Yeltsin Tejeda scored in the 58th minute, and Juan Pablo Vargas put his team ahead in the 70th minute.

In this group scenario, Costa Rica and Japan would have knocked out Spain and Germany from the World Cup, but the Germans prevented that by scoring three goals in the remaining time of the match.

Goals were scored in the 73rd and 85th minutes by Kai Havertz, and in the 90+1st minute, Niclas Fullkrug defeated the opponents' goalkeeper with a precise shot.

However, in parallel Group E matches, Spain lost 2-1 to Japan, meaning that Japan finishes in the first position in the table after three rounds with 6 points, while Spain remains second with 4 points. Germany, facing a fiasco in the group, also gathered 4 points, but a worse goal difference led them to third place and a painful exit from the tournament. Costa Rica's footballers finished last in the group with three points.
