Uruguay defeated the Ghanaian national team for the second time in 12 years at the World Cup, but this was not enough to advance to the next stage.
The first victory was the famous 2010 victory, when Luis Suarez played with his hand in the penalty area during extra time, and Asamoah Gyan missed the penalty kick. The Ghanaian national team acknowledged the advantage of Uruguayans and L. Suarez and his team traveled to the World Cup semifinals after a penalty shootout.
This time Uruguay celebrated an easier victory, 2:0, but a disadvantageous South Korea victory 2:1 against Portugal opened the way to the knockout stages for this South American team.
After the match, it was Asamoah Gyan who spoke out, who currently works as an expert for Ghanaian television called "SuperSports TV" during the championship.
"The Uruguayans are going home and in my opinion, this is a sign of karma," said the former "Black Stars" leader.
Asamoah Gyan also hinted that A. Ayew, who missed the penalty kick, would need psychological help in the near future, despite the fact that such things are part of the game.
Uruguay finished 3rd in Group H with 4 points, while Ghana finished 4th with three points.
