The quarter-final stage of the World Championship ended with an impressive victory for the Portugal national team.
In the duel of European teams, F. Santos' disciples defeated Switzerland 6-1.
Before the match, it was announced that the long-time leader of the team, Cristiano Ronaldo, would not play in the starting Portuguese eleven.
The veteran's place in the lineup was taken by G. Ramos, who immediately justified the hopes placed on him. In the 17th min. after a pass from J. Felix, the "Benfica" player shot like a cannon to give the Portuguese a one-goal lead - 1-0.
In the 33rd min. Pepe doubled the score after a corner kick, and in the 51st min. G. Ramos finally leaned the Swiss against the wall - 3-0.

Although in the 58th min. M. Akanji reduced the deficit, the hero of the match G. Ramos managed to score his third goal (5-1) and record his first "hat-trick" in the tournament.
Having done his job, G. Ramos was replaced, and C. Ronaldo took his place on the field, receiving loud cheers from the crowd. In the 84th min. the veteran scored a goal, but the referee ruled it offside.
At the end of the match, R. Leao also managed to score (6-1). In the quarter-finals, Portugal will face Morocco.
