The French national team advanced to the World Cup semi-finals after a dramatic 2-1 victory against England.
England's captain Harry Kane had a great opportunity yesterday to extend the match into extra time with an 11-meter penalty kick. It was already the second penalty kick by the "Tottenham" forward in the second half, but this time he missed the target - the ball flew over the goal.
After this episode, England's captain could not avoid criticism from both fans and the English press. After the match, the striker wrote a message on social media.
"We gave our all and everything came down to a small detail for which I take responsibility. There's no escaping from it, it hurts and it will take some time to recover from it, but that's part of sports.
"Now the most important thing is to use this experience to be psychologically and physically stronger in the next challenge. Thank you all for the support during the tournament, it means a lot," wrote H. Kane.
On December 26, H. Kane will continue the season with "Tottenham" in the English Premier League.
Absolutely gutted. We’ve given it everything and it’s come down to a small detail which I take responsibility for. There’s no hiding from it, it hurts and it’ll take some time to get over it but that’s part of sport. pic.twitter.com/lw5Esl4fnA
