The French national team lost to the Argentine footballers in the World Cup final on Sunday.
Despite the defeat, French national team defender Raphael Varane said after the final that the French left Qatar with their heads held high.
"Of course, we are disappointed because we gave everything. During the championship, we had many problems, but we never gave up.
In the first hour of the final, we simply did not play. Nevertheless, we had a great opportunity to win. I am proud of my team and of being French. We can hold our heads high. Despite the difficulties, we returned to the game.
We believed in our strengths until the very end. We showed incredible character. We are disappointed, but at the same time, we can also be proud of our achievement," Varane said after the defeat.
