Portugal's national team and the leader of Spain's "Primera" league club Deco will undergo surgery on his right hand on Monday and as a result, he may not be able to help his country in the 2008 European Championship qualifiers against Belgium and Serbia.
The 29-year-old footballer was substituted in the second half of Saturday's 4-0 victory against "Recreativo" when he injured the middle finger of his right hand in a clash with an opponent.
On Monday, the player will undergo surgery and it is still unknown how long he will be unable to play. It is believed that the rehabilitation may last about three weeks.
Portugal's national team will face Belgium in Lisbon on March 24 in the 2008 European Championship Group A qualifiers, and four days later they will clash with the Serbian team.
