Team doctor Juan Carlos Valeron, trying to return to the field after serious injuries, will need another knee operation.
Doctors allowed the Spanish national team member, who had recovered from a cruciate ligament injury, to return to the field in January, but soon the 31-year-old footballer felt pain again and was forced to visit the doctors once again.
This will be J.C. Valeron's third knee operation. Due to them and various complications, he has practically not played since January 2006.
"After almost 14 months of treatment, physiotherapy, strength recovery, and twice getting permission to play again, it is clear that J.C. Valeron's left knee is not yet ready to withstand the workload required by a professional," said Deportivo's doctor Cesar Cobianas.
"That's why we decided to perform another operation."
After successfully undergoing the first operation at the beginning of 2006, the Spaniard returned to the field in July, but soon injured himself again in a friendly match against Lisbon and was forced to rest until January of this year.
"We want him to play football again, so together with the team of experts, we will try to ensure the stability of his knee once again. This is a very complicated injury," concluded C. Cobianas.
