Samir Nasri said at the press conference on Tuesday that he does not want to be compared to former French national team star Zinedine Zidane.
The nineteen-year-old midfielder was called up to the French national team for the first time, led by Raymond Domenech, for the Euro 2008 qualifying match against the Lithuanian national team on Saturday.
"I am annoyed by comparisons to Zidane," said Nasri to journalists. "It puts a lot of pressure on a young player. When Zidane arrived at Juventus, everyone compared him to Michel Platini. Zidane started playing better when he realized it was meaningless to compare himself to other players."
"Zidane is unique," said the Marseille star. "Just like Platini."
Nasri is the only one among the 23 national team players who plays as a true "number ten."
"There are players in this team who won the World Cup," said the Frenchman. "When they won the World Cup in 1998, I was only eleven years old, I was just a fan back then."
