It seems that Mario Jardel is ending his career at the club.
The Brazilian striker has not attended training for three days: last week he flew to Portugal, and was supposed to return on Tuesday, but so far he has not even informed the club of his whereabouts.
Now it seems that he may return to his homeland and represent "Corinthians" for a short period. The director of the latter club, Rivelino, commented on this: "There is a great possibility that Jardel will agree. We will negotiate with him, and he is a very important player."
The career curve of thirty-year-old Jardel is declining. Several years ago, he was the most prolific European player with FC Porto, later representing Istanbul in a season.
In 2001, he moved to Lisbon to play for "Sporting". After some time, he faced personal problems and suffered from depression.
After missing almost a season, in the summer of 2003 he moved to England, unsuccessfully trying to establish himself.
In January 2004, he was loaned to Serie A's underdog "Ancona". However, he only played 3 matches in Italy, during which he did not score a single goal.
