Occupying fifth place in the Dutch league, Rotterdam has renewed its contract with defender Royston Drenthe. This football player is only 19 years old, but he already plays for the Dutch under-21 national team.
The previous contract was valid until 2009, but the new contract will only expire in the summer of 2011.
R. Drenthe is a product of the Feyenoord youth academy. He made his debut at the Rotterdam club in January 2006, and this season he has become a key player under the guidance of Ronaldo Koeman, having played 22 matches in the Dutch league and 4 in the UEFA Cup.
"I am proud of myself because the contract extension is recognition of my game. My heart will belong to the club for a long time," said Drenthe, happy to have extended his contract.
