The striker of the French champions club Fred will have to miss the next three UEFA tournament matches.
Such a decision was made by the UEFA Disciplinary Committee after studying the video footage of the Champions League round of 16 match between Lyon and Roma. In that match, Fred hit Italian defender Cristian Chivu with his elbow. This incident was not caught by the field referee.
Since Lyon lost to Roma and was eliminated from European tournaments this season, the Brazilian footballer will have to miss the next three UEFA club tournament matches in the following season.
