Former Paris Saint-Germain and French national team winger Jerome Rothen urges the Ligue 1 club not to make a big mistake.
According to the Frenchman, PSG must end negotiations with world champion Lionel Messi for a new contract and allow the veteran to move to another team this summer.
"The club would act foolishly if they were to keep the forward. Managing a team with L. Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe - is an extremely difficult task.
After all, we also need to consider the wages. As we have seen before, PSG cannot comply with Financial Fair Play rules because their established salaries are far exceeding the limits.
So, if L. Messi's contract is not renewed, there will be an opportunity to regulate player salaries. Then it will be possible to hire new talents and strengthen the squad.
Overall, I don't understand why L. Messi would want to continue this adventure. He doesn't try to lead the club forward, never thanks the fans, and drops his head and walks into the locker room. When the forward scores a goal, the supporters chant his name, but the player never reciprocates. He simply doesn't want to dedicate more effort to this project.
That's why I believe the best solution would be to say goodbye to him," J. Rothen insisted.
