The kidney transplant for Croatian national team and Werder Bremen forward Ivan Klasnić was finally successful. Back in November, it was revealed that the Croatian player needed a kidney transplant. The procedure in January was not successful – his mother's kidney did not take in Klasnić's body. Last week, the forward underwent surgery again, with his father this time being the donor. "I feel great. My wife brought me home to Bremen from the hospital in Hanover," said Klasnić. "Ivan's operation was successful, the kidney took. Both he and his father are feeling well," said the footballer's wife Patricia. 27-year-old Klasnić has been representing Werder since 2001 and has also played 42 matches for the Croatian national team, whose coach Slaven Bilić was pleased with the successful operation: "It's nice to hear good news. I wish Ivan a speedy recovery and return to the field, which he truly deserves." It is still unclear when the Croatian player will be able to play again. Doctors estimate that after about a month, Klasnić will be able to start training.
