The general director of "A22 Sports Management" of the European Super League leadership Bernd Reichart claims that the goal of the Super League is to stop the financial dominance of the "Premier League."
According to him, the new project is a result of in-depth discussions with clubs across Europe about the financial problems they are facing. In recent months, "A22" and ESL have focused their attention on the assets of the "Premier League," its dominance in the transfer market, and the impact it has on other European leagues with less lucrative television deals.
It is the clubs that take on the business risk in football. However, when it comes to making important decisions, they are too often forced to sit on the sidelines because the sports and financial foundation around them is crumbling.
Currently, clubs in Spain and Italy are experiencing financial difficulties, while the "Premier League" is not. This was evident in the recent transfer window when a "Premier League" team, "Chelsea," broke the UK transfer record.
Overall, in January alone, "Chelsea" spent over £323 million on eight players - more than the strongest clubs in Italy, Germany, France, and Spain combined," Reichart claims. The idea of the European Super League is predominantly being pushed by "Barcelona," "Real Madrid," and "Juventus."
