During the 2008 European Championship qualifying matches on Saturday, battles took place in all seven groups. The biggest surprise came from Kazakhstan, who beat Serbia in their tournament debut. England disappointed their fans once again with a goalless draw against Israel, while the match between Romania and the Netherlands ended in a draw. The European champions, Greece, lost to Turkey, Germany won the battle for first place in Group D, and Portugal, France, and Spain also secured victories among the favorites.
