Madrid President Ramon Calderon hinted that the head coach Fabio Capello, who has been heavily criticized, will most likely leave the team in the summer.
In July, the Italian, who took over the reins of the Royal club for the second time in his career, failed to meet expectations - the team was eliminated in the Champions League in the quarterfinals and currently holds only third place in the Spanish league. For some time now, there have been talks in the media that F. Capello's appointment was a mistake.
R. Calderon also expressed dissatisfaction with the results and already mentioned possible candidates to replace the Italian specialist.
"It's true that we have a list of candidates," - said the Spaniard. - "Even before I became the club president, I spoke with Getafe coach Bernd Schuster, Liverpool strategist Rafael Benitez, and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho."
"F. Capello had to lead a team that hadn't won anything for three years, and it's not easy. But people are also not happy because we are not playing well, even though things are not going well for us."
R. Calderon did not rule out the candidacy of former Real Madrid forward and current head coach of the Mexico national team, Hugo Sanchez: "He has all the capabilities to become the coach of Real Madrid one day."
However, the biggest chances to take over the helm of the team, which is experiencing a drought of titles, likely belong to B. Schuster, as both R. Benitez and J. Mourinho have rejected the possibility of moving to Spain in the near future, and the choice of H. Sanchez would be a big surprise.
