Rumors have spread in the Italian media that the multiple Serie A-winning club is increasingly interested in Santos player Ze Roberto from Brazil, and it is believed that the former Munich player will join the club as early as June.
"I will make my final decision and announce it when the national championship and Libertadores tournament are over," stated the defender, although it is believed that the decision had already been made.
The 32-year-old Ze Roberto, who had already been offered a three-year contract by AC Milan last summer, with an annual salary of 2.5 million euros, was one of the brightest stars in the Brazilian national team during the World Cup in Germany in June.
In July, the Brazilian was close to joining the Rossoneri, but due to an injury and the need for knee surgery, the deal was canceled.
Ze Roberto has fully recovered from the injury and is currently one of the leaders in the Santos team, led by former Real Madrid coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo.
"In Europe, they know me as a different player. It's better because it means I can play in various positions," added the defender.
The South American spent 10 seasons in Germany, playing for Bayern Munich and competing on the left wing, while playing in the midfield for the Brazilian national team.
The player has signed a 10-month contract with Santos, so in June of this year, Ze Roberto will be able to join Milan as a free agent.
Efforts to find an alternative to Andrea Pirlo were futile, as Swiss national team captain Johan Vogel and young French defender Yoann Gourcuff failed to establish themselves in this position.
This season, Milan occupies the 5th place in the national championship, trailing by four points from the team just above them, Palermo.
