Andres Palop has signed a new contract with the club and will stay there until the summer of 2010.
The previous Spanish goalkeeper's contract included a condition that after playing a certain number of matches in the first two seasons in Seville, he would automatically receive an offer to extend the contract for another three years. This provision was exactly what was used.
A.Palop was the first purchase of the current Spanish championship leaders' coach Juande Ramos in 2005, showing reliable and cold-blooded play and becoming the team's main goalkeeper.
Not only that, the 33-year-old footballer scored a crucial goal with his head a few weeks ago in the UEFA Cup eighth-final match against Donetsk.
Starting his career at Valencia in 1995, A.Palop was later loaned to Villareal for a season, but upon his return, as for most of his career, he remained in the shadow of Santiago Canizares.
