Munich's "Bayern" defender Josip Stanisic is little known among football fans.
The 22-year-old German receives few chances to perform within the ranks of the Bundesliga team, but yesterday he faced an exceptional task - to stop the star of Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match.
J. Stanisic played confidently and after the match (2:0) and advancement to the quarter-final stage, he received praise from both the club's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic and coach Julian Nagelsmann.
"Unbelievable! Sensational! Our entire defense line demonstrated world-class level, but I wanted to especially enjoy Josip's performance, who is a product of our system. And he's just a youngster!" - said H. Salihamidzic.
"In the first half, my players did not always follow the instructions given and the situation improved in the second half of the match. Generally speaking, we were the better team in both matches.
I have to praise J. Stanisic, he was unbelievable. We saw how Lionel Messi played closer to the middle of the field, and our plan to isolate Kylian Mbappe worked out," clarified J. Nagelsmann.
