On Wednesday, former midfielder Mesut Ozil of Madrid "Real" and London "Arsenal" teams announced the end of his career.
The 34-year-old German announced this on his social media account.
"After long consideration, I want to announce that I am retiring from professional football.
I had the privilege of playing professionally for 17 years and I am extremely grateful for that. However, in recent times, due to all the injuries I have had, I realized it was time to retire.
It has been an amazing journey, with many unforgettable moments. I want to thank all my clubs and coaches that I have worked with. I also thank all my teammates, who have become friends in life," M. Ozil wrote.
The German has become a European and world champion with the national team, and in 2015 he was named the best player in the country.
