During Tuesday evening's German Cup quarter-final match in Munich, Bayern lost 2-1 at home to Freiburg.
In the 19th minute, Bayern took the lead with a header by Dayot Upamecano, defeating the opponents' goalkeeper.
However, the Bavarians quickly received a response, as just 8 minutes later the score became 1-1. Freiburg's goalkeeper Nicolas Hofler sent the ball into the top corner with a fantastic long-range shot.
In the second half, the hosts were slightly more active, but Freiburg managed to earn a penalty in the dying seconds of the match after Bayern's attacker Jamal Musiala handballed in his own penalty area. In the 90+5th minute, Lucas Holer scored from a set piece, leading his team to the German Cup semi-finals.
In addition to Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt also secured their ticket to the German Cup semi-finals. The remaining two spots will be contested on April 5th by Nurnberg vs. Stuttgart, and Leipzig vs. Borussia.
