It is reported that Glasgow Rangers midfielder Mikel Arteta has agreed to move to Real Sociedad. The Spaniard had already been granted permission to leave Rangers this summer, sparking interest from several clubs.
Arteta was very interested in the UEFA Champions League finalists and the club where he spent a season on loan.
However, the Spanish media claims that "Real Sociedad" won the battle for Arteta, with the 22-year-old Spaniard signing a four-year contract with them.
The only remaining obstacle now is the transfer fee that Rangers would accept for the player. It is said that "Real Sociedad" is offering 3.5 million euros (around 12 million litas) for the player, while Rangers want twice that amount.
If Arteta were to move to "Real Sociedad," it is believed that the Spanish club would have to sell Xabi Alonso or Nihat Kahveci to maintain the club's financial stability.
