The new coach Jose Mourinho promised to bring the Premier League champions trophy to the London club within the next 4 years.
"I'm not afraid to say it. I'm not saying that we will win the trophy next season. I'm not saying that because in England there are top-class teams, coaches, managers," - said J. Mourinho.
"One thing I promise. Give me 4 years and I will win the championship."
The only time the London club, which has a 99-year history in the Premier League, won was in 1955.
J. Mourinho, who last week replaced the Italian strategist C. Ranieri in the head coach position, plans to form the new nucleus of the team around the club's star midfielder Frank Lampard.
"I love Frank Lampard," continued the coach. "He is the type of player that a coach wants to have in modern football because he can adapt anywhere. He has the abilities that I want to see in a player. When I think back to the times when I worked, if someone had offered me to have F. Lampard in the team, I would have accepted him without hesitation."
