Today, on Sunday, the last warm-up matches before the Euro-2004 final tournament are played by five national teams. The surprise of the championship was the Latvian team failing to defeat the Azerbaijani eleven at home, Switzerland won in the last minute against Liechtenstein, Czech Republic easily beat Estonia, and Germany unexpectedly stumbled against Hungary.

Latvia - Azerbaijan 2 - 2 53' Maris Verpakovskis [1 - 0] 56' Emin Guliyev [1 - 1] 74' Gurban Gurbanov 11m. [1 - 2] 83' Mihails Zemlinskis 11m. [2 - 2]

The first half had no major events and a couple of chances were created only by the guests. In the second half, the Latvians started aggressively and Verpakovskis, falling headfirst, brought his team ahead. But soon, after three minutes, Guliyev sent the ball into the left corner of the goal from 25 meters, leveling the score. In the 75th minute, Ponomarev was brought down in the penalty area by Stepanovas, and Gurbanov converted the penalty. But the hosts avoided defeat by responding with the same penalty in the last seven minutes.

Switzerland - Liechtenstein 1 - 0 90' Daniel Gygax

The Swiss narrowly avoided a draw with the semi-professional team of Liechtenstein. The latter defended well throughout the match from the hosts' attacks, and it seemed they would maintain a draw, especially after the Swiss coach fielded substitutes in the second half. However, in extra time, goalkeeper Daniel Gygax scored the winning goal.

Czech Republic - Estonia 2 - 0 6', 22'

The future "Group of Death" participant Czech Republic secured their second consecutive victory. This time they defeated the Estonian team by a two-goal margin, although the lead could have been twofold. Milan Baros put the Czechs ahead - in the sixth minute, he received the pass from Rosicky, dribbled past the goalkeeper, and scored. In the 22nd minute, Rosicky hit the crossbar, and Baros was first to the ball, scoring his second goal. The guests continued to defend with all their might, so the Czechs dominated the field. Nedved, Poborsky, and Vachousek hit the woodwork, and in the second half, also Vachousek.

World Cup runners-up Germany suffered another unexpected setback, their second in the last four matches. This time the Germans lost to Hungary. Torghelle scored in the seventh minute, jumping into the penalty area and beating Oliver Kahn. Then the hosts pressed, but were caught on the counterattack - again Torghelle scored. In the second half, Germany failed to capitalize on their chances and beat the outstanding Hungarian goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly.
