However, it was not applause or ovations - from the warm-up before the start of the match, "Saint Germain" supporters booed the legendary Argentinean.
L. Messi attracted PSG fans' anger due to his planned trip to Saudi Arabia and unconvincing performances on the field. The most furious ultras even declared their temporary withdrawal from the stands.
After the match, the club defender Danilo Pereira tried to defend the world champion, saying:
"The context of these actions is complicated, but it is painful to see our team mate being booed. If booing is necessary, then it should be directed at the entire team."
