In the A league this season, after a longer break, Visaginas, who will be playing again, announced today that the team will be coached by former "Vilnius" coach Ivanas Švabovičius this season, and his assistant will be Algis Biliūnas, who has been working as a coach at "Inter" until now.
This information was confirmed by EuroFootball.com and I. Švabovičius himself, who led "Vilnius" in the second half of last season. A few weeks ago, this coach, citing busyness and language barrier with the players, stepped down from the coaching duties of the capital team and handed over this position to Antanas Vingilys.
"In Visaginas, we will mostly rely on the young players born in 1986 from the teams of "Vilnius", "Vėtra", "Nevėžis", and there are also a few players left from last season's team," said I. Švabovičius.
The new coach of "Inter" hinted that the team's goals this season will be modest: "Setting specific goals would be unfair. With this team, we will aim to stay in the A league and perhaps prepare some players for the youth national teams."
Along with I. Švabovičius, the goalkeeper of "Vilnius" club from Brazil, Rinaldo Neto, also moved to Visaginas. There are rumors in the football circles that even more Brazilians from the capital team could join the ranks of the A league newcomers.
The new A league season for "Inter" starts on Saturday at 12 p.m., with a match at Vilnius "Žalgiris" stadium against the current champion, "Kaunas".
