The 2007 Lithuanian championship season has started. In the first match, the league newbie "Interas" and the country's champion "Kaunas" took to the field at the Vilnius "Žalgiris" stadium. The visitors from Kaunas celebrated victory with a minimal lead.

Just two minutes into the match, Ričardas Beniušis scored the first goal of the season for Kaunas. The visitors demonstrated their superiority from the beginning of the match, and in the 23rd minute, left-back Audrius Kšanavičius of Kaunas scored a precise shot on goal.

Soon after, Artūras Rimkevičius came close to the third goal, but his shot hit the post. This gave the hosts a chance, and taking advantage of Kaunas' relaxation, they reduced the lead in the 33rd minute with a strong shot from Artūras Jeršovas.

In the second half, after ten minutes, Kaunas' defender Mindaugas Bagužis restored the two-goal advantage, but a few minutes later A. Jeršovas responded with a precise shot. The intrigue remained until the end of the match, but Inter was unable to surprise, while Kaunas did not increase their lead and had to settle for a minimal victory.
