After the victory against "Atlantas" with the result of 2-1, the head coach of "Vėtra", Aleksandras Tarchanovas, stated that when commenting on this match, it should be divided into two parts.
"In the first half, we had a huge advantage and could have scored at least five goals. During the break, the players seemed to think that the victory was already ours, that we would score as many as we wanted. In the second half, we played very poorly - we did not control the ball in the middle of the field, there were many hasty and unnecessary passes forward. Although we did not allow many chances near our goal, tension arose and as a result we conceded a goal. After the opponents reduced the lead, we started to play more carefully and maintained the advantage," said the coach.
What did you tell the players during the break that changed the game so much?
I told them to play like in the first half, with a few adjustments in the middle of the field. I told them to avoid mistakes and utilize the sidelines more, where Pedro and Sulejmanovic actively played today. The most important instruction was not to rush, because in the first half rushing stopped us from scoring more goals. Unfortunately, we played the opposite way - relaxation appeared, which is unacceptable.
What grade would you give to the team?
In a five-point system, I would give four with a minus. For the first half, I would confidently give a five, and for the second half, a two with a plus.
