After the "A lyga" match in Panevėžys, during the press conference "Vilnius" coach Antanas Vingilys claimed that the draw was fair, while "Ekranas" head coach Saulius Širmelis expressed concern about the players' injuries.
A.Vingilys stated that his team came to Panevėžys ready to fight, very focused, and admitted that "Ekranas" is not the type of team that gives up easily.
"Since we played the first match evenly, today we really wanted the victory, but we are not disappointed and managed to secure a point. The match was intense, the pace of the game was quite fast. The result truly reflects the events on the field," - A. Vingilys concluded.
At the moment, the "Vilnius" team is missing captain Aivaras Laurišas, who leads a different, perhaps more aggressive game during matches. According to the Vilnius coach, he was the one making that last pass, which they lacked today in the battle against "Ekranas".
"I believe our team's defensive line has really done their job, of course, our main issue, and now goal, is to score goals," - A. Vingilys said optimistically.
Panevėžys "Ekranas" head coach Saulius Širmelis was more worried about the possible consequences of the injuries suffered by two players during the match than about the result.
"We have a bad suspicion that the players' injuries are serious," - the coach expressed concern already during the press conference. Later, doctors confirmed his suspicions about the serious injury to the legionnaire T. Rahno.
"Unfortunately, the rule once again proved true - where it is short, there is a lack. And we clearly lack defenders," - regretted S. Širmelis.
The coach did not hide that the team was set for victory, but once again emphasized that it is now most important what will be the consequences of these injuries and how it will affect the team's future game.
When asked if the players followed the coach's instructions given before the match, S. Širmelis admitted that not entirely.
"Especially the game from set pieces did not go well, although we worked a lot on them. There was a lack of focus, it seemed that some players were burnt out," - the coach tried to understand the performance of his players.
The team made fewer mistakes in the second half, and the coach had no major complaints about the defense.
"Regarding the forward line... Some players clearly lack confidence. The actions of older players on the field, when they do not push forward but pass the ball back, are incomprehensible to me. We encourage individual and measured actions forward and allow players to do so. But it seems that they have lost confidence in themselves," - the disappointed coach spoke about the attackers' performance.
However, S. Širmelis stated that he will not give up and promised to analyze the match with the team and try to figure out what happened, what is preventing them from believing in their strengths.
