Former captain Claudio Cacapa announced that at the end of the season, when his current contract ends, he will leave the most powerful French club of recent years.
"I have thought a lot about this and, although it is a very difficult decision, I have decided that it is time to leave the team and look for new challenges," said the Brazilian national team central defender.
"I am thirty, I hope to play for another three or four seasons. I would most like to do this in Europe and I hope that French citizenship will help me," said the Lyon defender speaking to the French newspaper L`Equipe.
C.Cacapa moved to Lyon in 2000 from Atletico Mineiro. In 2003, he became the team captain and was also part of the victorious team last season.
However, this season he played very little due to constant injuries and poor form. He played in just four matches in Ligue 1 and appeared once in the UEFA Champions League.
