After a 10-year break, Spain won their first international trophy.

In the Nations League final, Spain defeated Croatia after an 11-meter penalty shootout. The main time and extra time ended in a 0:0 result.

The match was marked by a small number of chances.

In the first half, Andrej Kramaric had a real chance, but heroic defending by Aymeric Laporte prevented the striker.

Ansu Fati could have extended Spain's lead at the end of the second half. However, the shot by the "Barcelona" talent was too weak. Marco Asensio also missed a chance.

In extra time, Dani Olmo had several good opportunities, but he was also inaccurate.

In the penalty shootout, the fourth Croatian attempt was unsuccessful. Unai Simon saved Lovro Majer's shot. However, Aymeric Laporte, who could have secured the victory, was also inaccurate, so the match continued.

Soon after, Bruno Petkovic once again dashed Croatia's chances, while Dani Carvajal extended Spain's victory with a "panenka" penalty.

The last time Spain won a major tournament was in the 2012 European Football Championship.
