“Kaunas Žalgiris” football club learned their opponents in the qualification for the 2023-2024 UEFA Europa Conference League.
Having finished in second place in the previous season, Žalgiris immediately secured a place in the second round of the qualifiers, and after the draw held on June 21, it became clear that the team would face an opponent from Poland.
During the draw ceremony at the UEFA headquarters in Switzerland, “Kaunas Žalgiris” was drawn against Poznań's “Lech”.
In the previous season, the future opponents of the Kaunas team finished in third place in the Polish football league and performed successfully on the international stage.
Last year, “Lech” entered the UEFA Europa Conference League and reached the quarterfinals of the competition, where they were defeated by “Fiorentina” with an aggregate score of 4-6, who eventually made it to the final.
The first leg of the match is scheduled to be held in Poznań on July 27, with the return leg taking place in Kaunas on August 3. Exact dates and times will be clarified in the near future.
