“Barcelona” president Joan Laporta is trying to get out of a difficult financial situation.
A year and a half ago, the 61-year-old lawyer who took over the team's reins has been cleaning up the mess left by his predecessors and is trying to reduce the huge debts.
According to J. Laporta, the commitments to former Barcelona forward Lionel Messi became a stone around the club's neck.
“We will pay Messi until 2025.
These are deferred payments agreed upon with the previous club management.
They will only end in 2025, so during this period we will regularly pay the player his salary,” clarified J. Laporta.
