Benjamin Zelkevičius' coached Liepaja "Metalurgs" club won their second victory in the Latvian championship, defeating Daugavpils "Dinaburg" at home after two goals from Mindaugas Kalonas, and are now tied for first place with the "Riga" and "Jurmala" teams.
There were no goals scored in the first half of the match with "Dinaburg," but after the break, M. Kalonas led the hosts ahead with a goal after 10 minutes. The lead of "Metalurgs" didn't last long, as the visitors equalized about an hour into the game, but in the 72nd minute, another goal from M. Kalonas restored the Liepaja team's advantage and secured the victory.
Alongside M. Kalonas, Darius Miceika played the full match for "Metalurgs," Tomas Tamosauskas was substituted in the 90th minute, and Vadimas Petrenka was not registered for the match.
The "Jurmala" and "Riga" teams also secured their second victories. Martynas Karalius remained on the bench for the latter, while Andzejus Maksimovicius was not registered for the match. Meanwhile, the league champions "Ventspils" bounced back from their first-round defeat and defeated the Riga "Skonto" team 2-0.
