On July 8, Edwin van der Sar faced serious health problems - after a brain hemorrhage, he ended up in the hospital, in the intensive care unit.

The football world was seriously concerned about the legendary goalkeeper's health and even life.

E. van der Sar himself announced today that he is recovering. He today left the intensive care unit and will return home in the near future.

"First of all, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful and supportive messages.

I am happy to share the news that I have been removed from the intensive care unit. I am still in the hospital, hoping to return home next week and take a step forward in recovery," the former goalkeeper wrote.

The 52-year-old Dutchman won four Premier League trophies with "Manchester United", the Champions League, and played 130 matches for the Dutch national team.
