On Wednesday, the 4th round matches will be played in the Lithuanian "A League". The most interesting matchups are expected to take place in Vilnius and Panevėžys. In the capital city derby, "Vėtra" will meet "Žalgiris", while "Ekranas" will host "Sūduva" at home. In other round matches, "Šiauliai" will play at home against "Šilutė", "Kaunas" will face "Atlantas", and "Interas" will try their luck against "Vilnius".
In the temporary capital city, "Kaunas" will meet "Atlantas". The Kaunas team welcomes the 4th round of the championship with a new head coach. After a not very successful start in the "A League", the coaching duo of Vladimir Kurnev and Eugenijus Riabov were removed, and Bulgarian specialist Angelas Červenkovas was appointed as the team's strategist.
In Panevėžys, "Ekranas" will host "Šūduva". It is still unclear whether the captain of the Panevėžys team, Mantas Savėnas, will be able to play, but the injured defender from Estonia, Taavi Rahno, will definitely not be seen on the field as he has gone back to his homeland for treatment. Before the match, the head coach of "Ekranas", Saulius Širmelis, said he hoped that the team would pick up momentum and show their true game. The strategist expected a tough match because, according to him, "Šūduva" in the last matches with Vilnius "Vėtra" proved to be one of the leaders in the championship.
In Visaginas, "Interas" will meet "Vilnius" at the "Žalgiris" stadium. Vilnius coach Antanas Vingilys spoke firmly before this match: "The guys are very determined to fight. Tomorrow the main squad will play. I think we can expect the first victory." Additionally, A. Vingilys added that the team should soon be joined by the recovered forward Aivaras Laurišas.
In the Vilnius derby, "Vėtra" will face "Žalgiris". There will be no legionnaire from Moldova, Anatoliy Ostap, in the ranks of Žalgiris for these matches, as he has suffered a recurring injury. Meanwhile, in the "Vėtra" team, we still won't see Dejan Miloseski and Bobi Božinovski.
In Šiauliai, there will be a match against "Šilutė". It is still unclear whether Mindaugas Lukoševičius will be able to help Šiauliai in this match, as he has suffered a minor injury, while defender Andrejus Oriolas has already recovered from his injury and played in the reserve team matches against Visaginas "Interas".
About the upcoming match, Šiauliai coach Darius Magdišauskas said: "After the victory against 'Interas', the mood is high. I can only say that it will be a tough match. 'Šilutė' is a good team, as shown by their draw with 'Žalgiris', who is now one of the leaders. However, we are determined to fight for victory in front of our fans."
