Former Soviet Union national team player Pavel Jakovenka became the first strategist in the newly started Russian championship, already being out of work. Club executives were dissatisfied with the results achieved - "Kuban" scored only 3 points in 5 matches and is at the bottom of the Russian Premier League.
Former Soviet Union national team player P. Jakovenka led Krasnodar club for the last 1.5 years and last year helped it rise from a lower to the highest Russian division.
The current strategist will be replaced by 52-year-old Leonid Nazarenko in the position of Kuban coach. He has also represented the Soviet Union national team and has briefly worked in Krasnodar at the end of 2004.
