The tournament started with victories for the hosts.

New Zealand unexpectedly defeated the Norwegian national team 1-0 in the first match.

The hosts of the championship triumphed after Hannah Wilkinson scored in the 48th minute. Ria Percival could have doubled the score in the 90th minute, but she was inaccurate from the 11m mark.

Meanwhile, Australia beat the Irish national team 1-0.

Stephanie Catley successfully converted a penalty kick in the 52nd minute and secured the victory for her team.
