Legendary Brazilian Pele told me that Cristiano Ronaldo has to wait another year or two to be worthy of the title of the best player in the world.
The 22-year-old Portuguese representing the team this season is demonstrating excellent athletic form and is the main candidate to win the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award, which will be announced on Sunday.
But Pele, who himself is considered the greatest footballer of all time, is not in a hurry to award titles to his younger colleague: "C.Ronaldo is a good player, looking great in the Premier League, but it's too early to call him the best for now."
Furthermore, it seems that the Brazilian is currently more inclined to tip his hat not to anyone else, but to his compatriot Kaka, representing "Milan."
"Kaka has been playing very well for several years and, in my opinion, has reached the same level as C.Ronaldo. Let's not forget that Ronaldinho showed excellent form a little earlier. I think it's too early to compare C.Ronaldo with the best. We need to wait a little and see if he can maintain such a level of play."
