As stated by head coach Glenn Roeder in the interview given on Thursday, the possibility of seeing forward Michael Owen in Sunday's "Premier" league match against London's "Chelsea" club is "50-50."
The English national team forward suffered a serious injury in the 2006 World Cup and should return to the field in the near future after a long period of time. If the player is not ready to take to the field on Sunday, it is almost certain that we will see him in the match against "Reading" on April 30.
"I have not yet spoken with Michael about whether he will take the field on Sunday," said G. Roeder.
"It's 50-50, he won't take to the field if, in my opinion, he is not in the right condition - he easily pulled a groin muscle, which happened last week while taking shots on goal," the coach evaluated the player's current condition.
"His groin hurts a bit, but that happens when a player falls out of the line-up for a long time, they worry about other parts of the body," explained G. Roeder.
"At the moment, we are very concerned about Michael, as we would be with any other player. Of course, that doesn't mean he will play in the match against "Chelsea," but if that were to happen, it would likely be in the match against "Reading,"" revealed the strategist.
The 27-year-old M. Owen underwent two surgeries in the USA. Last Tuesday, the player played for 70 minutes in a friendly match against the "Gretna" team for the first time in several months.
