On Thursday evening, "Sevilla" played their first King's Cup semi-final match, crushing La Coruna's "Deportivo" footballers 3-0 as guests and taking a big step towards the final.
La Coruna 0 - 3 12` [0 - 1] Frederic Kanoute 14` [0 - 2] Jesus Navas 90` [0 - 3] Luis Fabiano (11 m.)
The winners of the 2002 Cup, "Deportivo" players, were pressed in their own half from the first minutes until "Sevilla" deservedly broke through in the 12th minute, when Russian Aleksandr Kerzhakov made an assist to Mali forward Frederic Kanoute.
Two minutes later, "Sevilla" leader Dani Alves broke through the right side and passed to defender Jesus Navas, who outwitted the "Deportivo" goalkeeper and doubled the visitors' lead.
The hosts actively tried to reduce the score, but their attempts were not very serious, unlike the very dangerous "Sevilla" counterattacks. In the second half, "Deportivo" had better chances with Sergio and Adrian Lopez, and right at the end of the match, Sebastian Taborda almost scored with his head.
In the last minute of added time, after a cross from the side of the penalty area, "Deportivo" defender Jorge Andrade played with his hand, and Brazilian Luis Fabiano successfully converted the penalty kick awarded by the referee, making the result crushing.
On Wednesday, in the first semi-final match, "Barcelona" crushed Madrid's "Getafe" footballers 5-2 at home. The second leg of the semi-finals is scheduled to be played on May 9.
