Four matches were played in the afternoon in the Premier League.

Brighton won 4-1 at home against Premier League newcomers Luton Town.

In the first half, Solly March put Brighton ahead. In the middle of the second half, the team's newcomer Joao Pedro doubled the score.

Carlton Morris managed to score from the penalty spot to reduce the deficit and bring back some intrigue, but Simon Diagra and Evan Ferguson ultimately killed the chances for the Premier League newcomers.

In other matches, Fulham triumphed after Bobby Cordova-Reid's goal. They beat Everton 1-0, despite the latter's numerous chances.
