More than 6 months after the end of the World Cup, Louis van Gaal stated that one of the matches was fixed.
The former coach of the Netherlands national team commented on his former players and the Argentina quarter-final: "I don't want to talk much about it."
"If you see how Argentina scored goals and how we scored, how some Argentine players crossed the line and were not punished, then you can see that it was a fixed match.
I really think so. Did Messi have to become a world champion in one way or another? I think so," said Louis van Gaal.
Argentina-Netherlands match saw a total of 16 yellow cards and one red card. The regulation time and extra time ended in a 2-2 draw, with Argentina winning in a penalty shootout.
