J. Tebas about L. Messi and "Barcelona": "I wanted him to finish his career in Spain © AFP

Lionel Messi spent almost his entire career in Spain, playing for the "Barcelona" club. The extraordinary talent of the Argentine is hailed as the greatest footballer of all time and a player of the Catalan club.

In 2021, he left Spain and moved to Paris, where his stint was not as successful.

"La Liga" president Javier Tebas spoke about this transfer in an interview and shared more:

"L. Messi did not end his career in Barcelona because they failed to reach an agreement. I wanted him to finish his career in the 'La Liga' championships. It would have been the best for him, me, and Barcelona."

"I hoped that he would return to Spain. The history between Messi and Spanish football ended sadly," said J. Tebas.

This summer, the Argentine moved to the USA, joining the Miami "Inter" team. Messi's move to Miami "Inter" seems successful, as he has already won the league cup, and Miami "Inter" has not lost a game since his arrival.
