C. Ronaldo's match in the Asian Champions League - without spectators © zumapress

Hundreds of Iranians, eager to welcome their idol Cristiano Ronaldo, will only be able to watch the game on TV.

It was clear before Tuesday's Asian Champions League match that the meeting between "Persepolis" and "Al Nassr" in the "Azadi" stadium, with a capacity of 78,000 spectators, will take place without fans.

Thus, the Iranian club will have to atone for past sins.

The most successful team in the country's history had to pay the price for a post on a social network after a military conflict between some Asian countries that took place years ago was remembered after the 2021/2022 season match against India's "FC Goa" team.

Last year, "Persepolis" did not play in the ACL, so the penalty only came into effect now.
