According to the German media, German national team goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has extended his contract with his current club Arsenal in London and will play there until the summer of 2008.
"I decided to stay for another year because Arsenal is a great club with excellent prospects," the German told the publication "Bild."
Recently, this goalkeeper has been actively sought after by and tried to lure the 7th place Berlin club Hertha currently in the Bundesliga, but J. Lehmann states that his decision was influenced by the opportunity to play in the Champions League: "I want to play in the Champions League next season, and with Arsenal I can achieve that."
The 37-year-old goalkeeper came to the Gunners club four years ago from Borussia Dortmund and immediately became the main goalkeeper, surpassing Manuel Almunia and Mart Poom in London.
