Bad news at the camp of the "Premier" League underdog club in England. One of the team leaders, defender Damien Francis, suffered a cruciate ligament injury and will be unable to play for about six months, which means that he will not only be absent from the field for the rest of this season, but will likely also miss the beginning of the next season.
The 28-year-old Jamaican national team player suffered the injury during Saturday's 1-1 draw against "Man City". This result meant that "Watford", which only returned to the "Premier" League this year, has already finished their performance in the highest English league and will play in the "Championship" league next year.
"I am very pleased with Damien. He was starting to regain his form, but this injury now gives someone else more opportunities," said Watford's head coach Adrian Boothroyd.
In total, the player managed to score three goals in the English championship, and one each in the Football Association (FA) Cup and English League Cup.
In the past few weeks, the "Watford" team has already lost two players: Gareth Williams and Moses Ashikodi. Defender G. Williams suffered the same injury as D. Francis, while forward M. Ashikodi broke his leg.
