At Friday's press conference, London's Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger expressed his belief that his team's failures in the race for major trophies this season will only increase their appetite for the following years.
The strategist had to come to terms with a disappointing season, culminating in the departure of close friend and vice-chairman David Dein from the club last week.
The Arsenal team failed to challenge Manchester United and Chelsea for the Premier League title, lost to Chelsea in the League Cup final, and exited the Champions League tournament early.
"It was a season of hopes and challenges for the club. I am confident that this will help us be stronger next season," said Wenger before the Sunday meeting with Fulham.
"We moved to a new stadium and had many injuries in key positions. We are still fighting for third place and reached the League Cup final, but that's not enough," the strategist admitted about the club's achievements.
Wenger held a meeting with the players, reassuring them that he will not leave the team in the summer and will extend his contract with Arsenal until 2008.
Recently, team captain Thierry Henry joined the players who stated that they will remain in the team as long as Wenger is in charge.
"I believe in the coach and what he is trying to do. It's quite simple - as long as he is here, so will I," Henry said in an interview with Sport magazine.
