The city council of Kiev has decided to close the financially struggling "Arsenal" club after this season.

87 members of the capital council were in favor, 61 were against this proposal. It is worth noting that the government owns 80% of the club, whose debts amount to approximately 3 million dollars in shares.

The "Arsenal" club, currently occupying 10th place in the Premier League, was founded in 1934 by Soviet soldiers. During this time, the team changed its name several times - for a while it was called "SK Chernihiv", CSKA, "SKA Kyiv", "ZS Оriyana", and others.

The team does not have its own stadium. Part of this season, "Arsenal" played in the arena of another city team, "Dynamo", and later moved to a stadium outside the city.

The club has been unsuccessfully trying to sell it at auction three times.

The team has not had any major victories in its history. The only notable achievements are the triumphs in the 1998 and 2001 Ukraine Cup competitions.
