On Saturday, six matches of the 31st round of the German Bundesliga were played, in which Munich's "Bayern" lost to "Hamburger" and thus lost all hopes of defending the championship title, "Borussia" achieved a convincing victory against "Eintracht", "Hertha" defeated "Aachen" as guests, victories were also celebrated by the teams of "Stuttgart" and "Hannover", while the duel between "Nurnberg" and "Wolfsburg" ended in a draw.

In the central match of the round, the defending champions Munich's "Bayern" and the port city's "Hamburger" club clashed. The hosts took the lead in this match when in the 35th minute, Bayern's Peruvian legionnaire Claudio Pizarro defeated the Hamburger goalkeeper Frank Rost.

In the second half, in the 71st minute, "Hamburger" managed to equalize the score when Rafael van der Vaart scored with a long-range shot. Six minutes later, the visitors were already ahead after a precise shot by Paolo Guerrero. In the final minutes of the match, the "Hamburger" team had to finish the match with one player less, as Thimothee Atouba was sent off the field.

But "Bayern" failed to even snatch a point in this match, which meant that the club lost all hopes of defending the championship title and earning the right to play in the UEFA Champions League next year. "Hamburger" climbed to the 9th place after the victory.

In other matches, one of the underdogs of the championship, "Aachen", suffered a crushing defeat to the Berlin capital's "Hertha" team. Gilberto scored for his team in just 6 minutes. Ten minutes later, a penalty kick was awarded to "Hertha", which was taken by Laurentiu Reghecampf, but goalkeeper Christian Fiedler managed to save it.

In the second half, Christian Giminez doubled the capital club's lead in three minutes, Marko Pantelic added a third goal in the 77th minute, and in the 81st minute, turk Yildiray Basturk stuck the "dagger" into the "Aachen" "heart".

In another match, Dortmund's "Borussia" managed to defeat Frankfurt's "Eintracht" 2-0. The Swiss national team and "Borussia" club's attacking leader Alexander Frei scored both goals for the winning team in the 39th and 66th minutes.

The "Nurnberg" club played a 1-1 draw at home with "Wolfsburg". The visitors took the lead in the 17th minute with a goal by Jacek Krzynowek, but eight minutes later, Andreas Wolf equalized for the "Nurnberg" team.
